THERE have been 23 Covid deaths in the past 24 hours at East Sussex hospitals.

This shows what a tough battle the Eastbourne DGH is up against at present.

436 people had died in hospital at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust as of 5pm on Tuesday.

That was an increase of 23 compared to Monday, when there were 413.

There have been 84 deaths in the past week, up from 74 the previous week.

The East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust runs the DGH, Conquest Hospital in St Leonards, Bexhill Hospital, and Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital.
