THIS is not good news……………

The Welcome Centre vaccination centre was open 12 hours a day, 8am until 8pm.

But now that has been reduced from 8am to 4pm at a time when so many of us are anxious waiting to have the jab.

Staffing is the problem.

Here is a spokesperson for the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust:

“Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is currently operating five vaccination centres across Sussex.

Appointments are open to eligible people, as set out in the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advice, and we have met the national target to offer the vaccine to everyone in the first four priority groups.

“We have had to temporarily revise the opening hours at our vaccination centre in The Welcome Building, Eastbourne due to staffing issues.

The vaccination centre is currently open between 8am and 4pm, where we are providing more than 750 appointments each day, seven days a week.

“Vaccination centres are one part of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, and work alongside GP-led vaccination services, specific pharmacies and hospital hubs.”

That means The Welcome Centre would have been doing around 1000 jabs every 12 hours.

That has dropped to 750 which surely is unacceptable to Eastbourne residents.

We have made Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell aware of the problem.
