HEALTH bosses at the DGH say they are prepared for a second wave of Covid 19.
The subject was raised at the last Board meeting of the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Dr Adrian Bull has just stepped down as Chief Executive.
He explained that while a second wave of the pandemic was not inevitable, the Trust continued to prepare for the possibility.
He said: “Critical care capacity had been a key issue at the start of the pandemic and capacity had been increased from 19 beds to 24.
“This could be increased further to 40 if required.”
A lot of effort had been made to enhance relationships with care homes, with every nursing home in the county having a registered nursing contact in the Trust.
