More than 400 care home residents are to receive a free Easter Egg this week with the
aim of spreading some joy this Spring.

Two Hailsham based businesses, Maybugs and The Hailsham Eye Magazine have joined
forces to purchase more than 800 chocolate surprises to treat both care home residents
and staff throughout the town this Easter.

The businesses decided that residents in care homes have had a really tough time ove
the past 12 months, so although it is a little offering, it’s hoped the Easter eggs will spread
some joy at the weekend amongst the staff and residents.
Deliveries are taking place on Thursday to the ten care and nursing homes in Hailsham,
three days ahead of Easter so that they can be sanitised in preparation to give to the
lucky recipients.

Greg Rose joint owner of Maybugs said ‘Despite the difficult time the high street has
experienced recently, it is our absolute pleasure to help spread some joy this Easter
weekend, especially when it’s to those who have been the most removed from society. If
it brings just a moment of joy to them then it will be worth every penny.’
Paul Gibson from The Hailsham Eye Magazine commented: “We can’t wait to deliver the
eggs to all the care homes in Hailsham. The carers have done an incredible job
throughout lockdown and deserve some recognition, so we hope our small offering will go
some way to doing that. Also, it has been just as tough for those living in care, so we
really hoping to bring some joy to them too.”
Reporters are being invited to join the giveaway on Thursday April 1st (no joke) to see the
deliveries being made, and to interview the care homes and delivery team.
