THERE has been 35 more coronavirus deaths in Sussex, according to the latest figures.

Data from NHS England shows 13 more deaths were recorded by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust as of 5pm on Thursday.

That figure includes the DGH.

The total number of Covid deaths at the Trust is now a staggering 464.

Meanwhile, senior doctors are calling on England’s chief medical officer to cut the gap between the first and second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

Health officials extended the wait from three to 12 weeks to get the first jab to as many people as possible.

But in a letter seen by the BBC, the British Medical Association said the gap should be six weeks, saying the policy was “difficult to justify”.

Prof Chris Whitty said it would double the number of people receiving jabs.
