McCarthy Stone wants to redevelop land at the Hailsham Cattle Market in Market Street with Retirement Living Plus (Extra Care) accommodation.
This is what they say: “We have acquired an interest in land at the Cattle Market, Market Street, Hailsham, and are working up proposals for the site’s sensitive redevelopment with a retirement village comprising Retirement Living Plus (Extra Care) apartments and associated bungalows.
The current market owners have for some time been considering an alternative and more suitable edge of town site that will maintain the market within Hailsham, whilst removing the traffic from the town centre and providing modern, state-of-the-art facilities that meet the current standards for animal welfare. Full details of the relocation will be provided through a separate but related planning application.
As part of our commitment to community engagement, we have commenced a community consultation programme to inform local people of our proposals. Because of social distancing restrictions in place due to Covid-19, the consultation programme will be directed towards digital and postal formats.
The virtual public exhibition will allow local people to view our proposals and provide us with feedback on the plans before we submit a full planning application. Our exhibition will be available on 26 March – 9 April 2021 and all materials displayed on the exhibition will be available to download from this website.
