THERE was a large reaction to whether Eastbourne Seafront should have a cycle lane.

It was a big no from resident Stuart Nye.

He said: “No we don’t need a cycle lane on the seafront.

Cycle lanes are being proposed everywhere. They cost a lot and very few cyclists are using them – an expensive, pointless fashion.

Tax money should be spent on projects that give far more general benefit. Why should cyclists be singled out for such rewards?

Spend the money on ,say, seats for the retired and elderly, more rubbish/ dog mess bins or bus stops to shelter from the rain.”
