Award-Winning Musical Come From Away Lands in Eastbourne

The Rattonians are preparing to bring one of the world’s most celebrated musicals to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre when Come From Away runs from Wednesday 29th July to Saturday 1st August.

Based on the extraordinary true events following 11th September 2001, Come From Away tells the remarkable story of 7,000 airline passengers who found themselves unexpectedly stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, after US airspace was closed. What followed was an inspiring story of kindness, compassion and community that has captivated audiences around the globe.

The internationally acclaimed musical has enjoyed award-winning productions on Broadway, in the West End and across the world. Now, Eastbourne audiences have the opportunity to experience this unforgettable production, brought to life by The Rattonians – one of the town’s longest-established amateur theatre companies.

To ensure the production remains as authentic as possible, the cast recently welcomed Ashley Fayth, a genuine Newfoundlander, to the Royal Hippodrome for a special dialect and cultural workshop. Ashley shared her knowledge of the region’s distinctive accents, traditions and way of life, helping the company capture the warmth and spirit that has made Come From Away such a beloved musical.

Director Alex Adams said:

“Come From Away is such a special show because it’s based on real people and real acts of kindness. We’ve worked incredibly hard to do justice to their stories, and it’s been a privilege to bring this remarkable musical to the Royal Hippodrome with such a talented cast and creative team. We can’t wait to share it with Eastbourne audiences.”

Founded in 1984, The Rattonians have been producing high-quality musical theatre in Eastbourne for more than 40 years and have staged over 60 productions. Come From Away continues that tradition, bringing together a talented local cast to tell one of the most uplifting true stories ever to grace the stage.

Performances take place from 29th July – 1st August at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre.

Tickets are available now from the Royal Hippodrome Box Office 01323 802020 or online at www.royalhippodrome.com.
