THE roof of a house caught alight in Broad Road, Willingdon this afternoon.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 12.29pm to reports of a fire.
Crews attended an address on Broad Road, Lower Willingdon, Eastbourne.
The roof of a house was alight.
At the height of the incident 6 fire engines were in attendance along with an aerial ladder platform.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation and has been taking to hospital.
Building control and UK Power Networks also attended.
Power needed to be isolated which affected a number of homes in the area.
The fire brigade thanks locals for their patience while the incident draws to a close.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
It’s been described online as ‘a nasty fire.’
Another said: “It looked massive from here!”
However, one comment says: “No-one hurt everyone evacuated either side.”
