BIRLING Gap beach has been named among the best beaches in this week’s Sunday Times guide.
It focused on ‘the best beaches near London’ and Birling Gap was among those featured.
This is what it wrote:
1. Birling Gap, East Sussex
Load your backpack with snacks and ramble the six-mile stretch of the Seven Sisters cliffs from Eastbourne to Birling Gap beach. You’ll spot wildflowers, lighthouses and seriously impressive coastal views as you go, before you descend to the fossil-dotted shingle via a series of steps (there are no lifeguards on duty but there is a café with facilities). The best bit? Sunset. Pinky sky in front, towering creamy-coloured cliffs behind. Bliss. If you’re not walking back, book a taxi to pick you up from the nearby car park.
