Cadence Cycle Club has opened a new e-bike hub and café in the heart of Eastbourne’s cultural quarter, just in front of the Congress Theatre.
It’s the latest in a growing network of hubs connecting the South Downs Way and a first for the town with its fleet of BMW Active Hybrid e-bikes for hire.
This month has also seen the launch of their new merchandise, including cycle clothing and their signature Cadence Seasonal Blend Coffee.
According to Cadence co-founder, Roger Myall, “E-Bikes are a fantastic way to explore our
beautiful coastline and surrounding countryside. Within minutes of leaving our hub, you can
reach the Harbour and continue east towards the Pevensey Levels and Cooden Beach or get
onto the bridleways on the Downs and head out in the opposite direction.
“Hire is a great way to try an e-bike before purchasing too. A half-day or full-day rental is ideal
for anyone thinking of investing in one. [We don’t sell but recommend Cycleshack Eastbourne who have a great line-up and offer excellent advice].
“We have a range of frame sizes at the hub and we provide route ideas via apps such as
Komoot, so the whole experience is really easy. Above all, it’s a healthy, outdoor, fun activity
for friends and family looking for something a bit different.”
The Eastbourne Cadence café is worth a visit too with its unique blend of locally roasted coffee and excellent ‘grab and go’ menu. Open daily, the hub is serving up coffee, smoothies, iced drinks and food-to-go, such as the enduringly popular Wiggo toastie on sourdough, Sussex porky sausage and line up of cakes and bakes.
Sensitive about its environmental impact, reclaimed, recyclable and compostable products and materials have been used throughout.
Since launching in 2020, Cadence have now established hubs in Eastbourne, Litlington, Truleigh Hill and Upwaltham, and launched e-bike hire (available in Eastbourne and Litlington) and guided e-bike tours (available from Litlington). Further
