LOCALS in Hailsham are being urged to fight to save its Barclays branch.
Barclays will shut in February.
It says a decision to close a bank is never easy and it hopes customers will stcik with them and use alternative ways of banking.
Resident Janet Pitts said: “Barclays Hailsham needs to be saved from closure.
“They have closed Polegate, Battle, Langney and Uckfield. Lewes and Heathfield are on limited hours.
“Eastbourne only has one business counter and personally I hate going into the Eastbourne branch.
“So many farmers and businesses which are all struggling and need as much help as possible depend on the Halsham branch.
“I understand the building is too big and in need of repairs.
“Barclays only rent the building so as a community we need to save Barclays.
“After all we saved the market so why not Barclays?
“Please feel free to contact the Market Director Kim Mezoui on 07881317901. There’s a great bunch of staff in there as well that need their jobs saving. So come on let’s save Barclays Hailsham.”
