EASTBOURNE MP Caroline Ansell is predicting a ‘bumper recovery for Eastbourne.’
She says: “We are not out of the woods yet and risks remain but there is much to look forward to and I believe it will be a bumper recovery for Eastbourne when life gets back to normal in late June.
Bookings for staycations are at record levels and the VAT reduction I campaigned for is going to allow our crucial hospitality businesses a fighting chance of coming back.
It will be busy and I am writing to Eastbourne Borough Council about the level of planned measures to make sure we are not overwhelmed.
Bournemouth is putting in place Covid marshals, drones to monitor crowds, and a park-and-ride scheme ahead of the summer months.
Eastbourne is a different place but we must be prepared so that our visitors – and residents! – can enjoy the brilliant attractions we have safely. We have experience managing big crowds like when Airbourne come to town, but we may well need extra support sustained throughout the summer period to build confidence.”
