With thanks to our wonderful Wellbeing & Activities Team.

By Nic Gray

Not only do we put on fundraising activities here at Chaseley, but we also ensure that all our residents have fun, get involved and learn something new each week.

Our Wellbeing & Activities Team put on well thought out and inclusive activities for everyone to get involved in.

Over the past month or two we have had lots of activities and visits.

Millie’s Nightclub* attend The Chaseley Trust monthly, which invites a night of fun for adults with disabilities. A safe environment for all people with disabilities to experience a night club environment and have the freedom and choice to do as others do. October was Halloween themed, and everyone got involved in dressing up.

We also had our regular, popular visit from Pet Pals Therapy with Bex bringing along rabbits and chickens. Residents had the opportunity to have Pepsi and Bailey the chickens, and Dusty and Sinead the rabbits sitting on their laps.

The benefits of petting animals are numerous including:

• lowering blood pressure

• reducing anxiety

Everyone was relaxed and eager to hear the animal tales.

Violinist Miriam Eiselle , one of our regular visitors, came to play for the Residents last month too. The theme was famous film scores, ranging from Star Wars to Indiana Jones. The Residents absolutely loved her and clapped and cheered for more throughout the afternoon.

Another great event was our “Cockney Knees Up”. We had some London sing-along in the morning and a Cockney London through history PowerPoint presentation. In the afternoon the residents enjoyed a themed lunch of pie and mash, followed by a viewing of “My Fair Lady”.

Special thanks go to Teresa Boyle our Wellbeing and Activities Coordinator and the rest of the team here at Chaseley who make all of these things possible.
