Covid jabs have been cancelled in Eastbourne because of a vaccination shortage.
The Victoria Medical Centre in Green Street, Eastbourne, has messaged some people due to have the jab.
One person who contacted us was due to have the jab on Saturday in The Beacon.
They received this message: “Your Covid 19 vaccinations have been cancelled by your practice.
“You will receive another text with a new invite to book your appointments in.
“We apologise for having to cancel your vaccination at short notice.
“This is due to vaccination supply issues beyond our control.
“Please do not contact the surgery, you will be sent a new invite in due course.”
Health bosses in East Sussex say this is not due to a shortage, despite the surgery clearly saying that is the case.
Here is their reply.
A spokesperson for the Sussex COVID-19 Vaccination Programme said: “We are focussing on the JCVIs priority groups to ensure that the most at risk of COVID-19 receive their vaccination first.
“This means the priority is those aged 50 and over, people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, those with underlying health conditions, and carers of those who are vulnerable.
“All of the vaccination services and their teams have been working incredibly hard and have made significant progress, however we know that there are still people in these groups who are yet to receive their vaccination and we need to work with services to focus on reaching these vulnerable people as a priority.
“We remain on track to have offered the vaccination to everyone in the nationally set priority groups by mid April.”
