This is the window the fire brigade took out to get to the injured boy aged 12 in Sunday’s roof fall in the old Debenhams building in Eastbourne Town Centre.

Local residents are concerned.

Here is a warning from Jeanne Allen-Wells: “The addicts also get into this building and if they light a fire or are smoking, that building is full of asbestos.

“So if they start a fire, the whole town would have to be evacuated.”

Eleanor Dudley has reported the problem – but nobody has listened.

She said: “The roof on Debenhams is rotten so is the guttering and they were back again yesterday so until the owner of the building makes it secure then children will still go up there.

“We are talking children 12 to approx 16 year olds and they obviously all hang out together.”
