THERE were two call outs for dogs over the cliffs yesterday in Sussex for local coastguards and lifeboat teams.

Newhaven Lifeboat – along with Birling Gap, Eastbourne and Newhaven Coastguard – were called to Seaford after a dog was reported to have gone over the cliff. The border collie was rescued from the base of the cliff by Newhaven lifeboat and brought ashore to owners.

The second incident was in Eastbourne where Birling Gap and Eastbourne Coastguard teams were tasked to meet another dog owner. on the beach to offer assistance.

Coastguard are glad to report both dogs were found with no major injuries and left safe and well with their owners.

Please remember to always keep your dogs on leads near the cliffs adn if a dog goes over please call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
