AN independent electric scooter retailer and wholesaler opened in the Enterprise Centre on Saturday – but not everyone is happy.
E Motion Scooters LTD stock a large range of e scooters from ‘commuter scooters’ to off-road and high performance models.
But Eastbourne Access Group – which works to remove or breakdown the barriers that disabled people face in everyday life – is not impressed.
It says: “With a new e scooter shop opening in the Enterprise Centre how soon will it be before these vehicles are weaving through pedestrians in the town centre and in the promenade?”
And it has asked its member: “Would you like to see strong enforcement and seizure of these vehicles?”
The shop stresses: “Electric scooters are not to be used on footpaths, cycle lanes or roads in the UK. It’s the responsibility of the customer to make sure that you ride your electric scooter in accordance with local laws.”
