MEMBERS of an Eastbourne arts group are preparing for a sponsored walk on October 10.

Compass Community Arts is hoping to raise £2000.

A spokesperson said: “This year, our annual Sponsored Walk is more important than ever – the money we raise will allow us to keep providing our social support services throughout lockdown and reach out to the many people who are still self-isolating.

“Our group will be walking 10 miles across the South Downs, whatever the weather!

“Last year we were able to raise £700, which was extremely helpful.

“This year we have three times as many walkers signed up, so if each person gets just 5 sponsors we should be able to meet our minimum target of £2000. But – we are aiming to raise as much money as we can!

“While all our programs are delivered for free to those who attend, we have core running costs and it can be difficult to obtain funding.

“Your sponsorship will allow us to keep running so that we can continue to deliver our small outdoor groups, and also reach those who are unable to leave their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’ll keep you updated on social media and email about our progress on the walk and how much we raise – please contact us on info@compasscommunityarts.co.uk to subscribe to our mailing list.”
