THE Eastbourne DGH has joined the COVID vaccinations programme.
Lewes Tory MP Maria Caulfield said today: “The COVID Vaccinations programme went live on 8th December at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and since then GP surgeries have joined the scheme from the 15th.
The vaccine has to be kept at -70 and so many GP premises are not able to take part but many have grouped together for the scheme. 26 local practices are now seeing their over 80’s patients being called forward to either GP hubs or local hospitals.
We now have Eastbourne hospital, the Conquest and Worthing hospitals taking part and four sites including Haywards Heath will start next week.
Once the Astra Zeneca vaccine gets approval, roll out will speed up significantly as the cold chain is not required for this.
* Only those over 80 are being called at the moment
* please don’t call your GP surgery to find out when you will be called as they are doing appointments in strict order
* if you receive a call and accept an appointment please keep it as once your vaccine is defrosted it cannot be used again and will be destroyed
