Eastbourne Foodbank is calling on the public to help challenge the government on Universal Credit.

Here’s Howard Wardle MBE: “Are you aware that if you are on Universal Credit you will lose £1,000 a year from October 1st?

“The government are committed to this reduction but this has to be challenged.

“Yet again it’s the poorest people in our society who take the biggest hit.

“Maybe the government think they’ll just take it and keep quiet.

“We need to put pressure on the government to reconsider this.”

Boris Johnson said the nation must have a ‘different emphasis’ as it emerges from the pandemic and that emphasis ‘has got to be on getting people into work’.

The Prime Minister made clear that the funding boost will be withdrawn despite senior Conservative figures demanding it be permanently kept in place.
