EASTBOURNE health campaigners say they have been ‘brushed aside’ by NHS bosses.

Votes taken on Wednesday and Thursday mean the Walk In Centre at Eastbourne Railway Station will close by the summer.

NHS bosses say they have listened to concerns.

Lucette Davies from East Sussex Save The NHS Campaign Forum said: “Thanks to everyone who helped us with the campaign to save Eastbourne’s walk-in centre.

We all worked so hard and for so long on this. I know I have found the decision taken on Thursday to close the centre crushingly disappointing.

We had massive support from the public and made many very strong arguments against the closure.

But in meetings with HOSC and with the CCG we were met with little more than weak justifications for the closure that were full of holes and half truths. Many of our arguments were just brushed aside.”
