A cut to national insurance was first announced by the Government last year and comes into effect today (Saturday).

Here’s our MP Caroline Ansell: “Some excellent news to start the new year – from today we will see the largest ever cut in National Insurance; a 16% reduction – or 2p in the pound – meaning the average earner in Eastbourne will see their tax bill cut by £514 a year.

This also represents a tax cut for 27 million working people right across the country.

And with both tax cuts for the self-employed and a record increase in the National Living Wage coming in April, there is more to come.

It’s only right that hard working people keep more of their own money. Getting inflation under control was a key pre-requisite for this good news.”
