Eastbourne Pier owner Sheikh Abid Gulzar has today posted online that the seafront market should not be allowed.

The market has opened this morning ahead of a busy Bank Holiday weekend.

Mr Gulzar says it is wrong, and our MP and council instead should be putting their energy into supporting local businesses instead.

Here are his main points:

  1. Encourage locals to buy fresh, local produce at all times
  2. The market damages income for local businesses who have shops 12 months of the year in Eastbourne
  3. Is it 100 per cent hygienic?

He says his complaints have fallen on deaf ears, and the town’s businesses should always be treated top priority.
