Eastbourne RNLI was called out at 1.30am today to rescue three people on a yacht.

The Volunteer Crew were requested to launch the All Weather Lifeboat to assist a 12 metre yacht with three people on board that had suffered machinery failure six miles South East of Beachy Head.

Once on scene, the tow line was passed and the casualty vessel was towed into the safety of Sovereign Harbour.

The Volunteer Crew finally departed the Station at 4am.
