The Eastbourne and Brighton vaccination centres will shortly be starting the SECOND doses for the first wave of people to receive the injection.

The decision to space the vaccinations 12 weeks apart was announced by the NHS in their publication of the 11th January.

They said: “The short-term vaccine efficacy from the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is calculated at around 90% and around 70% for Oxford AstraZeneca, with high protection against severe disease.

“The four UK Chief Medical Officers decided that “vaccinating twice the number of people in the next 2-3 months is preferable in public health terms to vaccinating half the number with only slightly greater individual protection.”
