Eastbourne’s infection rate quadrupled between December 12-26.
This may explain why our figures have risen so much because during those two weeks we were still in Tier 2.
We are now seeing a small decline in the number of cases.
But the DGH is under extreme pressure and we are still the Sussex hotspot and the 10th most infected part of England.
Upperton recorded 122 cases in the seven days prior to January 16.
It remains the most-infected area in the whole of Sussex.
