SINGER Rick Bonner is a man with a big heart – and now he has launched Life Aid to help people suffering in Ukraine.

It’s quite simple – entertainers give up their time FREE on a Thursday to perform a gig.

Rick is appealing to DJs, bands, discos, singers, karaokes, musicians and comedians to contact him.

Either he will sort the venue or the entertainer may know somewhere.

An entrance fee is charged – and every penny goes to the Aid for the Ukraine – Eastbourne group.

Rick lives in Eastbourne and is well-known throughout Sussex for his singing.

He said: “It’s a new idea and it’s a fun way to help those suffering in war-torn Ukraine.

“I would love to hear from any entertainer and they would perform a gig for free.

“Ideally, it would be Thursday night but we are flexible – it’s all about helping those who need it so much.

“Obviously, we need venues for these live shows so again I appeal to restaurants, pubs and live music venues who would be willing to host the event.

“Money raised would come from charging a small entrance fee, bucket collections on the night, or any other charity ideas people can think of.

“So, put simply, we need entertainers and we need venues. Please contact me.”

Rick booked five gigs in the first week of launching Life Aid, and he is hopeful this will become very big locally.

He is also planning to record a song with the local Ukrainian choir to raise more funds.

He said: “This is all very flexible – if you can offer help, then we will work around you.

“I want to motivate people to continue to offer support to Ukraine. The war isn’t on the TV as much as it used to be, and it seems that both sides are wearing each other down.

“I want this to be fun, to involve as many people as possible, and to entertain.”
