This hugely popular event in the Meads calendar didn’t take place last year because of Covid so it is great to see EODS back in the Italian Gardens with a lavish and imaginative production of one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies and the play that inspired the evergreen hit musical, Kiss Me Kate.

The cast features a blend of new faces and seasoned EODS stalwarts with the skill and experience to bring one of Shakespeare’s comic masterpieces vividly to life.

The production promises all the wit and charm of the Bard at his best. But it’s also a battle of the sexes that will resonate with modern audiences – particularly with director Jaz Manville’s bold decision to fast-forward the setting of the play to the Roaring 20’s, making the beautiful Italian Gardens, created in 1922, the perfect venue.

What’s more, the delicious home-made cakes on sale in the hospitality marquee are almost as famous as the production itself!.

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate returning to ‘the new normal’ and tickets are selling fast. See you there!
