First it’s Eastbourne Bandstand – now Motcombe Pool may be under threat…
This is from Heidi and Ruby, Acting Joint Chairs of Friends of Motcombe Pool:
“A Facebook community dedicated to campaigning to get our beautiful Motcombe Pool in the heart of Eastbourne’s Old Town repaired and reopened.
This essential local community resource has now sat empty for nearly 2 years.
Motcombe Pool should have reopened when the rest of the town’s leisure facilities reopened at the end of the pandemic’s lockdowns/restrictions.
Motcombe Pool is not just a swimming pool, it’s a hub of the local community where friendships are made; informal after work groups are formed; generations learn to swim; early morning risers energise the start to their day and residents come to recover from surgery or manage long term conditions in a relaxed and quiet environment compared to other larger leisure venues.
Friends of Motcombe Pool needs a group of dedicated people to ensure that Eastbourne Council provide a clear plan for the repairs with a reopening date, that Motombe Pool’s swimmers from all generations can look forward to.
This group needs you, get in touch either through this page or email us: FriendsofMotcombePool@geoff-stonebanks.
We need to take this group beyond social media and reach into the heart of our Eastbourne community to keep our pool reopening on the council’s agenda.”
