Saturday saw the first draw of the new Wealden Community Lottery, a fundraising initiative launched by Wealden District Council.

There were 35 lucky winners in the first draw of Wealden Community Lottery, who won cash prizes of £25 or free tickets to next Saturday’s draw on 1 April.

While there hasn’t been a £25,000 jackpot winner yet, one player did scoop the special prize, an Apple iPad 2022 10.9 inch Wi-Fi 64GB.

More than 700 players have now joined Wealden Community Lottery and the lottery is on track to raise over £48,828 for good causes in its first year.

So far 56 good causes have signed up. The funds raised will be used to support causes including Rotherfield St Martin, East Sussex Hearing, You Raise Me Up, Groombridge Post Office, Nutley Horticultural Society, Hailsham Old Pavilion Society, and Isfield Village Hall.

Good causes that are interested in benefitting from the lottery can sign-up here.

A spokesperson at Wealden District Council said, “Congratulations to the first winners of Wealden Community Lottery.

“The funds raised through the lottery will make a huge difference to grassroots good causes. We’d like to thank everyone who has joined the lottery so far, and we’d encourage anyone who wants to support a good cause to take part, have fun and maybe even win £25,000.”

Wealden Community Lottery draws will take place every Saturday night, and tickets cost just £1.
