Hailsham Chiropractic Clinic is proud to be the leading chiropractic clinic in Hailsham. While we have a specialist focus on the neck and spine, we’ve also been successfully helping patients for years with headaches, migraine prevention, joint pain, minor sports injuries, shoulder pain, elbow pain, sciatica and plantar fasciitis.
As garden season begins, our chiropractors wanted to share a few helpful tips to keep you safe and comfortable whilst working in the garden.
Posture and Movement
Maintain good posture: Keep your back straight, knees slightly bent, and neck and shoulders relaxed.
Avoid bending from your waist: instead, use your legs to squat or kneel when working close to the ground.
Use safe body mechanics: Engage your core and larger buttock muscles when lifting and lowering your body.
Warm up before starting: Perform gentle stretches to warm up your back, knees, arms, shoulders and neck.
Take frequent breaks: Stop periodically to rest and avoid overexertion.
Tools and Techniques
Use ergonomic tools: Choose tools with long handles to minimize bending and strain.
Consider kneelers and chairs: These can provide support and reduce strain on the knees and back.
Wear supportive footwear: Choose shoes with a good arch and support to improve balance and reduce impact.
General
Dress appropriately: Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows for free movement.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to avoid muscle cramps and dehydration.
Listen to your body: Pay attention to any signs of pain and take breaks or modify your activities accordingly, alternate tasks frequently.
