The organisers of the Hailsham Live event, which was previously cancelled due to the pandemic, have announced it will take place this July.
Hailsham Live was originally planned to celebrate VE Day last year but could not go ahead. It was then re-planned for August in the same year to coincide with the VJ Day commemorations. However, due to the continuing pandemic, this was also postponed.
The event, In association with Hailsham Town Council, will take place on Saturday, July 10 2021 and will now include a free to attend town centre extravaganza with live entertainment, charity stalls, market, rides, games, food and drink.
In addition to the High Street extravaganza, an evening of entertainment for all the family has been announced to finish off the celebrations in the Vicarage Road Car Park.
The ticketed Hailsham Live evening session promises to be a night to remember for Hailsham with top level entertainment on a large outdoor stage. Visitors can enjoy hot and cold food, local beers and Prosecco bar, along with Candy Floss, Ice Cream and Popcorn stalls.
From 5pm till 10pm, visitors will enjoy the UK’s Number 1 P!NK Tribute Act along with other tributes such as Queen, Gary Barlow and Take That and the RockitMen with their Queen performance. Live DJs and Entertainers will also be taking to the stage to entertain visitors. The evening event is on a ticket-only basis and are on sale now.
Organiser Paul Gibson said: “We are ready to give Hailsham an amazing day and evening of pure fun and entertainment, and more importantly, raise money for the charities coming along to the High Street as they have really suffered over the past year.”
Viktoria Cowley from Hailsham Shop Local said: “We really want residents to come back into the town centre to discover the amazing range of independent shops and businesses on offer.”
He added: “I can’t thank the all the people and businesses we’re working with enough who are helping to make this day happen for Hailsham. We are also very grateful to the event sponsors, Bucklers, Chandlers MINI, Crane & Co Estate Agents, Haulaway and The Royal Indian in ensuring the event goes ahead.”
The organisers are actively working with the authorities to make the event COVID-safe and ensure audience numbers are limited to allow social-distancing.
Sanitiser facilities will be available and more space has been created in both the High Street and Vicarage Road Car Park venues to ensure visitors feel safe to attend.
The Government’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery’ plans to lift all restrictions on large outdoor events on June 21 2021, the team will be closely monitoring the situation and adapting the plans to comply with any rules in place at the time.
An initial 500 ticket allocation has now been released on an early bird rate for the evening event in the Vicarage Road Car Park. With the second allocation expected to be available in early May.
