JOSH Babarinde is the new LibDem councillor for Hampden Park – and he’s going to be great, regardless which party you voted for.
Here was his reaction last night: “WE WON!!! Announced in the hall that I had my school prom in(!!), it’s with huge pride that I can share that we did it, people!
After a hard-fought campaign, we won the Hampden Park by-election!
To residents, neighbours and friends in my wonderful home patch of Hampden Park: thank you so much for electing me as your newest Eastbourne Borough Councillor.
To friends, family, my Lib Dem team and supporters beyond: your incredible backing has meant the world
A special thank you to my Hampden Park running mate Colin Swansborough (who won his County Council race) for his guidance, friendship and support.
And respect to Margaret and Luke, who stood as the Labour and Conservative candidates respectively, for putting their heads above the parapet to campaign for what they believe in too.
The hard work of representing the people of Hampden Park starts now.
To kick off, I’m launching monthly surgeries to support my residents with challenges they might be facing in their lives – with the first taking place on Zoom/telephone next Saturday 15th May from 2pm.
If you live in Hampden Park and would like to book an appointment at my surgery, you can do so right here: https://calendly.com/eastbourne-josh/surgeries
Thank you again, Hampden Park. It’s an honour to roll up my sleeves for YOU.”
And roll up his sleeves he will!
