THE Friends of Eastbourne Seafront claim there has been a huge theme park planned for the empty Fort Fun site.
But it claims the council has handled the matter very badly:
“Friends of Eastbourne Seafront have discovered that a local, long established, theme park with a proven track record of tourist entrepreneurship and success had shown an interest in developing the Fort Fun site. However, EBC seemingly failed to engage positively in negotiation, offering only a very short-term lease and rejecting a request for visitors to the proposed venue to have free car parking.
This bid could have brought a first-class attraction to the seafront for residents and visitors alike. It would have offered employment opportunities and benefited businesses throughout the town. (More detail in the recut and re-edited version of the Fort Fun section of our video below).
With discussions still being held on the future of the site and final decisions being imminent we urge the council to reconsider their stance and re-open discussions with this or any other company seeking to make a serious, long-term investment.
If you feel the same way as us, then please contact those making the decisions:

Let’s get the best that’s possible for the Fort Fun site and the voices of Eastbourne heard!”
Let’s hope EBC will provide a statement today.
