Another…100 Years of Big Bands

Len Phillips Swing Orchestra feat. Matt Ford & Nicola Emmanuelle

Congress Theatre, Sunday 28 August 5pm

The glorious sound of Big Band will swing through Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre again this summer as the highly acclaimed Len Phillips Swing Orchestra returns for an afternoon of sweet swing classics and the ultimate big-band sound from a 17-piece orchestra on Sunday 28 August, 5pm.

Following the massive success of 100 Years of Big Bands (the hit Sky Arts televised concert), the iTunes chart-topping LP Swing Orchestra return with a whole new programme, once again celebrating a century of swing.

Come on a journey through Big Band, beginning with Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans and the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, trace the development of big bands through the golden age of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller through to the contemporary tracks of Michael Bublé and Harry Connick Jr.

Paying homage to the great big band singers, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat “King” Cole and Peggy Lee along the way, feet will be tapping to the sheer power of a 17-piece swing orchestra.

“…glorious, and in no small part thanks to you and your marvellous orchestra”

Dame Joan Collins

“It was a joy to be up close and personal with the Len Phillips Band”
