LIBDEM Josh Babarinde says PM Rishi Sunak was arrogant at Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday lunchtime.
The issue of paediatric services ‘being downgraded at the DGH’ was raised by LibDem Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper – and dismissed as being untrue by the Tories PM – ‘Local LibDem scaremongering about DGH’ (and he says Caroline is doing a great job) – Bournefree Live – Latest news from Eastbourne, Polegate, Hailsham, Pevensey, Bexhill and Sussex.
Josh was accused of scaremongering.
He now says: “I’m flabbergasted at the arrogance of our Prime Minister. Today, our town is paying the price for it.
Many will know that local clinicians and families have expressed concerns about DGH bosses’ plans to remove the on-site paediatric doctors at the DGH. Many are concerned this may result in more children having to instead go to Hastings for the care they need.
So I worked with Lib Dem Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper MP to raise these concerns at the highest level – to the Prime Minister at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons.
Unbelievably, rather than accepting the concerns had by local doctors and families and committing to reviewing the paediatric changes at the DGH, Rishi Sunak instead attacked local campaigners.
It’s one of the most out-of-touch things I’ve ever heard him say. So disappointing.
Although we cannot rely on the Prime Minister to have our back, I will continue fighting for our hospital and our town – even if the powers that be don’t like what I have to say.”
