THE Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex has funded a new project at an Eastbourne school.
Early years children are now learning and playing in the dry at Motcombe First School in Eastbourne thanks to a generous financial award from the Sussex Masonic Charitable Foundation CIO (SMCF).
The award provided the funds to build a much needed canopy shelter at the school.
Assistant Head Teacher Emma Moore said: “We are so grateful to the Sussex Masonic Charitable Foundation for their generous donation, without which we would have been unable to afford the installation of this wonderful canopy for the school.
“We have wanted a canopy for our Foundation Stage classes for many years, so that the children would be able to learn outside as well as inside every day, no matter what the weather is like.
“Now we have the canopy we are able to set up exciting provision every day without the worry of it getting spoilt by rain or left unused by children who don’t want to be outside in the rain.
“Now children who like to play and learn on a larger, louder and more active scale than is possible in the classroom are able to do so easily. We have had the canopy for a few weeks now and there is always such a bustle of activity out there – the staff and children are loving it. It is even better than we had imagined. Thank you so much!”
