Migrants stranded off the Eastbourne coast are safe after a dramatic afternoon off Sovereign Harbour.

An inflatable dinghy got into difficulty around 23 miles south of Beachy Head just after noon today.

It had around 30 migrants on board, some children.

Teams from HM Coastguard and the RNLI carried out the rescue.

The vessel was towed safely by the RNLI into Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne.

They are all now in the care of the Home Office.
