Ancient Grains, the brand new café at 38 Meads Street, between Emslie & Tarrant and Chapman Wine Merchants, is now up and running!

Their opening hours are 9.00 am to 6.00 pm seven days a week and owners Davide Manca and Carla Patteri are waiting to welcome you.

Pop in for breakfast croissants, pastries, and fresh coffee (from East Sussex) or later for a main meal.

The accent is on comfort food like sausage and mash or a proper Italian lasagna.

The menu changes every day as they buy fresh local ingredients and adapt the dishes depending on what they have bought.

They are also offering afternoon tea with freshly made cakes and scones and there will be a roast with all the trimmings on Sundays.

Those of you with a sweet tooth will be pleased to learn that they make their own ice cream with organic ingredients and also a mean tiramisu!

There is also a full takeaway service so you can even pick up a beautifully prepared evening meal and, of course, there are vegetarian and vegan options.

Let’s give Davide and Carla a warm Meads welcome!
