A NEW business has opened its doors today in the Enterprise Shopping Centre.

It is called Rainbow Wishes and is a ‘Community Store.’

A spokesperson said: “We are very excited to be located in The Enterprise Centre in Eastbourne Town Centre!

“We have a lovely range of new and used items which will help fund our Rainbow Wishes journey!

“We hope to see you there!”

Rainbow Wishes was created in July.

Co-founder Tracie Owen began making three care packages with her daughter Courtney for local care homes at the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

She said: “Before we knew it, three boxes turned into hundreds then hundreds turned into thousands of requests!”

Tracie was joined by co-founder Jo Valler-Clark and an army of willing helpers, fondly known as the Rainbow Army.

They set to work to make sure they could fulfil as many requests as possible.

Tracie said: “We had amazing support from the Mayor, Caroline Ansell, lots of local businesses and so many lovely volunteers.

“They helped raise funds, gather items, pack and deliver 3,426 care packages to our well deserving keyworkers.

“We worked pretty much 7 days a week for over 3 and a half months.

“We laughed and we cried but were determined to reach as many people as we possibly could!

“We also donated 12 boxes of knitted and crocheted blankets and keepsake hearts made by our wonderful volunteers for Covid patients and their families.

“Thank you to everyone who had a part to play in Box Full Of Rainbows – Care Packages For Keyworkers, we couldn’t have done it without you!

“We raised an absolutely amazing total of £33,630!”

As lockdown came to an end, Tracie and Jo decided that they wanted to continue the work they had been doing …  and Rainbow Wishes was created in July 2020.

Tracie, Jo and the ‘Rainbow Fairies’ will be working hard with the local community in Eastbourne to help raise funds and provide the right products to support local community initiatives, whether big or small.

The aim is to bring hope and smiles during times of need, when they are needed the most.
