ASDA has confirmed a major change to its supermarkets – by announcing 359 of its stores, including Eastbourne and Hailsham, will offer dedicated vegan aisles.

It comes after it revealed plans for more than a hundred new vegan products in its range of non-refrigerated products.

Stores will dedicate two shopping bays solely to Vegan products with one for savoury items including proteins and sausages and the other for sweet foods.

Two new Galaxy chocolate flavours will be included in the range, alongside Asda’s own-label rice and lentil bowls, as well as a number from brands such as Mrs Crimble’s, Vego and an exclusive falafel mix from Bosh.

Sarah Thornewill, Asda’s buying manager, said: “We understand that customers want a quick and simple shopping experience, and this shouldn’t be restricted by dietary requirements.

“By merchandising all our vegan items together, we hope to save customers time and offer inspiration, whether for those following a plant-based diet, or those looking to reduce their meat consumption.”

Following the announcement, Asda customers have praised the supermarkets for its decision, with some saying it will make for a “simpler shopping experience”.
