WILLINGDON Community Hub has created a garden for the local community.

It has been made possible by a £3,000 grant from Ansvar Insurance, based in Eastbourne.

Anne Mandy, from the project, said: “We extend our thanks to Ansvar for funding the project and all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make the garden a success.”

A spokesperson for Ansvar said: “One year ago, as part of our Community Campaign, we were delighted to donate £3,000 to Willingdon Community Hub to create a garden for the local community.

“Despite the pandemic the volunteers and management team have done an amazing job to complete a landscaped garden with bug hotel, a small pond, carefully selected plants to attract birds, butterflies and bees; and raised vegetable beds.”

The garden will also be used by the Brownies and Willingdon Primary School to encourage children to use the garden for reading and story time
