THE Port Hotel on Eastbourne seafront has caused much debate since its recent opening.
Many have moaned about the fact is has been coloued black.
The reality is it has become a huge success in a very short period of mtime.
Now one national review has described it as ;a game changer for Eastbourne’ and indeed the best hotel we have,
It says: “For far too long Eastbourne has lacked a design-led bolthole, so the new Port Hotel is a game-changer.
Set right on the seafront, it puts a rooted spin on the Scandi aesthetic with a palette that reflects the landscape: a lick of green at the back for views of the South Downs; pebble-like pink and stone at the front where guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of waves.
Bathrooms have concrete sinks and terrazzo tiles while Jonathan Murphy’s abstract paintings and ceramics by Karen Peters add character to the open-plan space downstairs.
But it’s the restaurant terrace that draws the biggest buzz, serving small plates of crispy spring lamb with wild garlic and mint sauce and roasted beetroot and goat’s cheese salad. Doubles from £140;”
