A NEW bus route, the 701, now connects Eastbourne and Brighton, serving Seaford, Newhaven and Falmer.

The new service will run hourly throughout the day on Mondays to Saturdays, with the first bus departing Eastbourne at 0540 and the first bus from Brighton at 0730. The last bus will depart Brighton at 1830.

Tickets start from just £2 for a single journey (in-line with the government’s national bus fare cap), and one day’s unlimited travel, including on route 701 to and from Brighton, is available with an East Sussex DayRider ticket.

Under 19, under 30 and adult versions are available.

We also have great value period tickets too. An Eastbourne and Seven Sisters MegaRider gives you unlimited travel on the 701 and all other Stagecoach buses in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Pevensey travel zone.

DayRider and 7 Day MegaRider tickets can be purchased on the bus from your driver, or in advance on the Stagecoach Bus App. A 28 Day MegaRider is available to purchase on our website.

The 701 will link you to popular destinations including Eastbourne Pier, Seven Sisters Country Park, Premier League football club Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium at Falmer, and all that Brighton has to offer, including its historic Lanes shopping district, the Royal Pavilion and seaside attractions.

If you’re a student at the Uni of Brighton or Uni of Sussex, the 701 offers an ideal connection to campus. You can access the Falmer campus of both these universities from the Falmer Station bus stops. The 701 also stops close by the Uni Brighton’s  Lewes Road campus.

If you need to connect with rail services, the 701 serves bus stops at Seaford Railway Station, Newhaven Railway Station Interchange, and Falmer Railway Station. For mainline rail stations in Eastbourne town centre and Brighton city centre, you can access the 701 at bus stops a short walk away.

The 701 also connects with Stagecoach bus route 700 at Brighton Old Steine for travel west of the city on towards Worthing, and with Stagecoach route 17 at Brighton Old Steine for travel to Henfield and Horsham. Stagecoach Gold DayRider tickets (available on services in the Stagecoach South region) are valid on the 701 bus between Brighton and Falmer only.
