New Wellbeing & Creative Health Hub in Old Town is set to be a vibrant destination

THE new Wellbeing & Creative Health Hub in Old Town is well on the way to becoming a vibrant destination.

And the Motcombe Community Pool Community CIC is now looking for experienced operators with the capability, vision and commitment to help develop the centre.

Painting and Decorating students from East Sussex College Group, Eastbourne have been working on site.

They helped to advance the final stages of Phase 1 of the Pool’s rejuvenation — transforming the former attendant’s house into the new hub.

Their involvement marks an important milestone in Motcombe’s regeneration journey.

Supported by Eastbourne Borough Council, the programme enables students to gain practical experience in a real community setting.

Teaching Assistant Georgia said: “The initiative delivers strong social value by building confidence, teamwork, communication and employability skills, giving learners a sense of ownership and pride in place.”

MP Josh Babarinde praised the partnership, calling it ‘a wonderful way to combine heritage with future opportunities for young people.’

Designed to facilitate community wellbeing, creative health and social connection, the rejuvenation of the former Attendant’s House will generate vital revenue essential to supporting further redevelopment of the wider site and future swim operations.

Promoting fitness of body and mind, the centre features a bright reception and welcome space, a double-height expressive arts studio with suspended floor, a fully serviced exercise space, a one-to-one therapy and consulting room, and a loft-style group consulting / life-skills / workshop space.

Helen Nichols, Chair of Motcombe Community Pool Community CIC, said: “This milestone celebrates education, community and local partners coming together with purpose.

“As we work towards the wider redevelopment of the site, the involvement of young people taking pride in place strengthens our momentum and helps to advance long-term plans to secure Motcombe’s future and ultimately to reopen the Pool.”

This next chapter builds on extensive planning, research, consultation and evidence gathered to shape a sustainable long-term solution for Motcombe.

At this pivotal moment, the CIC is inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced operators with the capability, vision and commitment to help develop the centre as a vibrant destination serving Eastbourne and the surrounding community.
