HEALTH bosses are inviting the public to a virtual meeting tomorrow (Saturday) to explain why it wants to shut Eastbourne Station Health Centre.

The meeting is taking place online from 10.30am until noon.

They say it is ‘an opportunity to hear the reasons for the preferred choice to close Eastbourne Station Health Centre and give your views.’

This is a very controversial topic.

Many people are against the idea, and MP Caroline Ansell has also voiced her concerns.

A public consultation is underway again after it was disrupted by Lockdown.

The online invitation says: “Please join us on Saturday 5th September to hear about the preferred choice held by East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (formally known as Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford CCG) to close the Eastbourne Walk in Centre at Eastbourne Station Health Centre and manage a dispersal of the registered patient list.

“You will hear from Urgent care and Primary Care, have the opportunity to learn about new and improved services in Eastbourne and voice your opinion on the preferred choice.

“Your views will form part of the final report after the consultation has come to a close.”

Residents are being asked to have their say on proposals to close the walk-in service, after an earlier consultation was paused due to the coronavirus outbreak.

East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says it has endorsed the restart of the consultation after ‘careful consideration’.

It will run until Monday, September 14.
