FANTASTIC news this morning!

The NHS in Sussex is ‘on track’ to jab everyone in Eastbourne by February 15 in the top four priority groups.

Jane Lodge works for the COVID-19 Vaccination Enquiry Team.

She told us today: “We have worked across Sussex  to vaccinate all those in the first two JCVI cohorts, and in fact we are on track to have vaccinated all those in priority groups 1-4 by the middle of this month (excepting those who are unwell and those who decline), in line with national targets.”

We asked how some people were being chosen to have the jab before some others.

Jane said: “In terms of our Voluntary and Community Sector,  the Local Authorities have identified organisations that they feel would fall under cohort 2, in  line with Standard Operating Procedures that task Local Authorities with this role.

These organisations are required then to identify staff and volunteers who provide a service to those who would be deemed vulnerable, and provide a letter of authorisation so they may then access the vaccine through booking on specific online links.”
