We all look forward to Christmas Day and Birthdays, for obvious reasons of family gatherings and exchange of gifts but as things have changed so much we are so very much looking forward to Monday 12th April at 11 o’clock. That is the day that we can open the doors to newartgallery!
It has been a long year for all of us but newartgallery is here to cheer us into 2021 and looks forward to welcoming visits from browsers, gift searchers (Birthday opportunities!), art enthusiasts and those looking for inspiration to fill a gap on a wall or a shelf.
The gallery specialises in shoeing intriguing and inspiring collections.
I began my gallery ‘career ‘in Essex, where I showed paintings from the Basildon Arts Trust and other local artists in the Eastgate Shopping Centre. When my family and I moved to East Sussex, I moved the gallery to Alfriston. It was a happy and very interesting time where many Sussex artists were introduced to me, local people and visitors.
The gallery moved from Alfriston to central Eastbourne in mid-2020 but has effectively been closed for a year, most of the time with work in storage. It is with the greatest of pleasure that the works are now on display for the delight of everyone to come and see!
Something for everyone
The gallery offers a huge range of original art works from a variety of artists in a range of media including water colour, ceramics and photography. There are portraits, landscapes, and pencil drawings as well as pottery, porcelain, and photos printed on aluminium.
Like so many other businesses lockdown has been tough but over the winter I have not been idle. It has given me time to re-decorate and re-hang paintings and improve the display and storage for the paintings.
New at newartgallery
I have a new Director, Ian Shearer. He runs ‘Fizz on Foot ’walking tours, as well as wine tasting and tasting dinners. Ian has a very good collection of art and he also prepares stained glass, making him a good partner.
I have also met four new artists, that I will be showing. Liza Macintosh, Brenda Hartnell, Simon Desmond, Elda Abramson. Here are samples of their work.
Although the Gallery is smaller than when I was in Alfriston, I plan to have occasional exhibitions of artist’s work in the Hydro Hotel so there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to come and see what is on offer.
That special piece
If you come and see what is on offer and you don’t find something quite right for you please do let me know and I will be happy to help you find that special piece.
We are open seven days a week and look forward to seeing you in our gallery.
