FIRE has damaged the new Maybugs store in Eastbourne Town Centre.
Greg and John took over the former Laura Ashley site in the summer – and it’s been a huge hit.
Yesterday’s fire is a massive blow.
Here they are: “We want to say a huge thank you to the fire service who did an amazing job getting there so quickly and stopping it spreading to the whole building.
The fire was discovered at around 2.20pm and our team did an amazing job evacuating the store quickly. Thankfully no one was injured. Thank you team bug!!!
The fire service have confirmed it was a electrical fire in the floor between the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is a fair bit of damage but thankfully it is mostly limited to the upper floors, and very little of the ground floor and stock was damaged.
John and I are beyond devastated and still in shock, we literally can’t believe this has happened to our fabulous little business, and it may sound silly but I don’t think we have any more tears to cry today.
We will be closed tomorrow (Sunday) while we clean up and get everything assed to ensure it’s safe to reopen. We will be back as soon as possible, but obviously we need to make sure everything is safe before we can do that. We’ve received literally hundreds of messages of support and offers of help, thank you all so much, the love we have received is overwhelming.”
